The International House at Maxcy College and The Rule of Law Collaborative present Martina E. Vandenberg as the Spring 2017 Maxcy Visiting Fellow. Her lecture, titled “Justice for Trafficking Victims? Why We Fail and What We Can Do” will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:30pm at the School of Law.

Martina Vandenberg has spent two decades fighting human trafficking, forced labor, rape as a war crime, and violence against women, representing victims of trafficking pro bono in immigration, criminal, and civil cases. She currently serves as the founder and president of the Human Trafficking Pro Bono Legal Center, which was established in 2012 with support form the Open Society Foundation. Vandenberg has received multiple awards for her successful representation of trafficking victims in the U.S. federal courts and for advocacy before Congress. She holds degrees from Pomona College (B.A.), Oxford University (M.Phil), and Columbia Law School (J.D.). A Rhodes Scholar and Truman Scholar, Vandenberg has taught at the American University College of Law and in the Oxford University Human Rights Summer Program.
