Marcia Mejía Chirimia is a leading human rights defender and an indigenous Nonam leader from the community of Santa Rosa de Guyacán in Colombia. She has firsthand experience in the decades long conflict between the FARC, the Colombian Government and various para-military groups. She works with ACIVA, a network of indigenous communities in the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca. She is also a spokeswoman for CONPAZ (Communities Building Peace in their Territories). She will discuss the peace process in Colombia with an emphasis on how indigenous and other marginalized communities are impacted.
