ROLC Director Joel Samuels Discusses Colonialism and its Impact on Development and the Rule of Law at the American Society of International Law’s 113th Annual Meeting

ROLC Director Joel Samuels delivered remarks in the session “Diverse Perspectives on the Impact of Colonialism in International Law,” which was held at the American Society of International Law’s 113th annual meeting on March 28th, 2019. The talk examined perspectives on, impacts of, and the relationship between colonialism and international law. His remarks focused on the colonial experience and the development of commercial law in Africa, and how the resulting norms have impacted modern international law.
