The Rule of Law Collaborative has become a partner of the Task Force on Justice, an initiative of the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies. The Task Force on Justice is a group of international justice leaders and experts who work together to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote justice among vulnerable societies.
The Task Force seeks to understand and address the challenges facing at-risk societies and their access to justice. Some of these issues include investigating the justice gap and understanding what people need and receive when they seek justice, discovering what strategies work and the best way to fund them, and how actors can commit and cooperate to support societies access to justice at a national level.
Partnering with the Task Force will allow the Rule of Law Collaborative to work with governments in the implementation of effective strategies and engage in research to collect the information and data necessary to achieve the SDGs. Additionally, the Rule of Law Collaborative will assist the Task Force in preparing the flagship report, which is aimed at informing policy and decisions makers about new developments and effective strategies. This report will also be used to ensure a focus on justice at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2019, where strategies will be discussed in an effort to reach the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
