Earlier this week, ROLC Director and Professor of Law Joel Samuels delivered the keynote address at the 2019 African Youth and Governance Convergence (AYGC), held in Accra, Ghana and organized by the Youth Bridge Foundation. The address focused on the potential for Sub-Saharan Africa’s youth to be a force for positive change in the areas of peace, justice, and security. In his remarks, Professor Samuels highlighted obstacles that the region’s young people face in forming productive relationships with their governments, participating meaningfully in civil society and the private sector, and being active stakeholders in environmental governance.
