Susan Bon

Dr. Susan C. Bon has authored and co-authored nearly 40 articles and co-authored book chapters addressing the legal and ethical principles that inform administrative practice and impact leadership in education and special education. Dr. Bon is an active leader in national law-related organization focusing on education law and special education law. She spent one year as a part-time Intern at the United States Education Department working on Title I, Part D (Neglected or Delinquent Youth), McKinney-Vento (EHCY), and Homeless Education Disaster Assistance (HEDA) Grant Programs. Her past experience also includes serving as coordinator of the Education Policy Fellowship program (EPFP) in Washington, D.C., which is a 10-month education policy and leadership program developed by the Institute for Leadership (IEL). She has served on several executive boards for non-profit organizations, including the Dream Project in Arlington, VA, which is a non-profit organization focused on helping to promote student success and access to higher education for immigrant students; and the Education Law Association in Cleveland, OH, a national, non-profit member association offering unbiased information to its professional members about current legal issues affecting education and the rights of those involved in education in both public and private K-12 schools, universities, and colleges. Prior to her university faculty service, she worked as the ombudsman in the State Superintendent’s Division of the Ohio Department of Education. Dr. Bon received her law degree and a doctorate in education policy and leadership from The Ohio State University.
