Dr. João Albino-Pimentel is an Assistant Professor in the Sonoco International Business Department at the Darla Moore School of Business.

Dr. Albino-Pimentel’s research revolves around non-market and international strategy. He is specifically interested in how firm- and country-specific political resources and capabilities influence firms’ international strategy decisions such as location of international investments, resource commitment in foreign countries and global innovation. He is also interested in how political resources are generated and create value for firms.

Dr. Albino-Pimentel’s research has been recognized with the best COST-DTT Doctoral Proposal award at the 2013 European International Business Academy Conference in Bremen and with the Strategic Management Society 2014 SRF dissertation grant. Dr. Albino-Pimentel is from Brazil and he has lived in China, the United States and France before joining the Moore School in 2016. Professor Albino-Pimentel earned his Ph.D. (2016) from HEC Paris, France, M.Sc. (2009) from University of São Paulo, M.A. (2008) from University of Grenoble, and B.A. (2007) from University of São Paulo.
