Community Policing: From Evidence to Policy Making

This event will include a presentation and discussion of the findings from six new field experiments examining the effects of informal community policing. Dr. Annette Brown, Principal Economist at FHI 360, will moderate the event. The main presentation will be given by Dr. Graeme Blair, Assistant Professor of Political Science at UCLA and Chair of the EGAP Metaketa IV: Community Policing steering committee. Discussion will be led by Julie Werbel, Acting Division Chief for Leadership and Learning in the new USAID Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization (CPS); and Amod Gurung, an expert at the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Mark Kroeker, Senior Partner at Kroeker Partners, will give introductory remarks. The event will focus on experiments that took place in Brazil, Colombia, Liberia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Uganda.
