Region(s):

South Asia

Since September 2021, with support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL), ROLC has worked to support the rights of construction and tanneries workers in Bangladesh. ROLC has been implementing its Empowering Workers for Justice (EWJ) project in partnership with Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST). EWJ will support workers through a number of initiatives, including creating Self Help Groups (SHGs), providing direct legal assistance, generating ideas to support the country’s labor courts, advancing workers’ rights at both the operational and policy level, engaging with journalists covering labor issues, and building capacity for labor rights advocates by conducting trainings on strategic litigation and establishing a Labor Rights Fellowship program.
