UNESCO Visits ROLC’s Office

On March 1, 2024, ROLC met with Karel Fracapane, Programme Specialist UNESCO’s (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) Section of Global Citizenship and Peace Education. ROLC presented on its justice sector capacity building and civil society strengthening projects in Ukraine, Moldova, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. ROLC also learned about UNESCO’s ongoing work on human rights, hate speech, and youth issues.

ROLC participants included Deputy Executive Directors Karen Hall and Steven Austermiller; Senior Rule of Law Expert Scott Ciment, and Program Manager Atif Choudhury. Dr. Doyle Stevick, the Executive Director for the USC Anne Frank Center, facilitated the discussion. ROLC and UNESCO will continue the conversation about possible collaboration, especially in Sri Lanka.
